How do I adopt a dog from LPWCR, Inc?

  • There is an adoption fee of between $250 and $350, depending on the age of the dog, and you will be asked to sign an adoption agreement which states that you will provide a certain level of care for the dog and that should you have to give up your corgi for any reason, you will notify Lakeshore so that we may take the dog back.

  • All adopters are required to fill out an application which will be put on file and make you part of our waiting list. If you need an application mailed to you, email Nikki Hynes at mi.corgirescue@Yahoo.com and she will be happy to send you one.

  • We prefer to have your application mailed electronically as we are able to process them faster. You may submit your application via US postal mail, but it will take longer to complete the process.
  • You can mail applications to:
    Nikki Hynes
    7177 Lahring Rd.
    Gaines MI. 48436

To submit an application electronically, follow these easy steps:
  1. Open the Application for Adoption by clicking on the link and fill it out.

  2. When you have it filled out, go up to your menu at the top of the page and use the drop down menu under the word "File." Click on Save As.

  3. A pop up window will appear and ask you where you want to save the file. On the very top of this window, you will see the words Save In: (directly under the large words that say Save As.) Using the drop down menu(click on the arrow to the left of Save In) click on Desktop. You may also have an icon that says "Desktop" on the left side of this window. You can click on this to save to the desktop as well.

  4. Next, go to the bottom of this window and you will see the name of the document(Application-for-Adoption.doc) and to the right of that there is a button that says save. Click on Save. This saves the application you just filled out on to your computer's desktop (computer screen).

  5. Now go into your mail program, create a new email message. Your contact is named Nikki and her address is: mi.corgirescue@Yahoo.com. In the body of the email write a note to let her know you are submitting an application.

  6. Next click on the paper clip or whatever icon (symbol) that lets you attach something to your e-mail. That will give you a pop up window and you will again use the drop down menu to select Desktop. Once the desktop icon are displayed, click on the Application-for-Adoption.doc document and Viola! your application is attached! Now click send and we have it!!

My mother has always wanted a corgi. Can I adopt one for her?

We do not adopt dogs out as gifts. The person with whom the corgi will live must fill out the application.

How long will I have to wait for a rescue corgi ?

We take in 55-100 dogs a year. We have no idea how many dogs we will have at any one time. We can have several or none. There is no way to predict how long you may have to wait for a suitable rescue corgi. Dogs are placed in the home we think is best suited for the dog. Applications are not filled in chronological order.

Do you ever get puppies into rescue?

Most of the dogs that come into rescue are adults, generally between the ages of 2 and 8 but anything at either end of the age spectrum is possible. We rarely get puppies.

Will my rescued corgi be healthy ?

All corgis placed are spayed/neutered before placement if it hasn’t already been done. We try to update vaccinations and deal with any other health issues that a dog may have before placement. Obviously, Lakeshore cannot make any long term guarantees about the health or longevity of any rescue corgi we place.

Do I need a fenced yard or a large property to adopt a corgi ?

We place our rescue corgis only as house dogs. Although we prefer a fenced yard, we will consider all responsible applicants on a case-by-case basis.

Will my rescued corgi have temperment issues ?

Contrary to what you may have heard, rescue Corgis are rarely socially handicapped or fearful. They are usually adults with all the naughty puppy stuff behind them who have lost a home for reasons that have nothing to do with their own behavior.
